Nicky's Art
Art is not what you see, but what you make others see.
Edgar Degas

I love to paint pets and botanical scenes, such as gardens.
In painting a pet portrait, I seek to find and show the character of the animal. I find it hugely satisfying recreating the detail in their coat, or the shine in their eyes or nose.
When I paint landscapes I consider my style semi-abstract and impressionistic. In all my work you'll see that colour plays a huge role.

I use mainly acrylic paints, but I also enjoy the looseness of watercolours and inks.

In 2021 I was a Wildcard on the Sky Landscape Artist of the Year programme. It was a real privilege and a fantastic experience to see behind the scenes!

ABOUT NICKY

I am a Cheltenham-based artist and teacher with over 20 years' experience, having worked in a variety of schools in the UK and overseas.
I now teach art to children and adults from my garden studio in
Charlton Kings.

I regularly judge in local en plein air art competitions and I run painting, printing and collage workshops.

I am also a painter and I take commissions for pet portraits and botanical scenes. You can browse my work, below.

When portraying landscapes or botanical forms, I often use a semi-abstract style, where colour, movement and texture take centre stage.
